Quality Rice Cooker

After having gone through several brands of rice cookers which did not meet my expectations of a quality rice cooker, i specifically looked for the Zojirushi brand to determine if they also made rice cookers. I was impressed with their thermal carafe which kept the water hot for a long time. I figured if they made really good quality thermal carafes, they might also make really good rice cookers.
I have been using this rice cooker for more than a month now, and I am impressed! It came with easy-to-understand instructions. The rice was cooked perfectly everytime, and was kept warm for a long time. Additional features which came in handy was the retractable cord, a handle which makes moving it easier, a countdown timer to indicate how long your rice is going to be done, and an attached serving spoon holder.

First one arrived damadged due to being packed upside down, second arrived a day after I sent the old one back with the amazon replacement program.

Weird that the clock stays on even when unplugged, hopefully it does not die... Otherwise love it!

Have made brown, basmati, black, and sushi rice. Mixed rice and beans, rice and sweet potato, rice and daikon, even made a spiced rice with almonds and cranberries for thanksgiving that was a bit hit and saved me oven space! The steam function overdoes the cooking a bit for me, but that may just mean I need to take it out sooner. I like veggies crunchy. Still it's nice to have the basket so I can do multiple items when making rice for bentos. Not perfect but efficient to use it this way.

Have not tried any of the wet items yet (porridge, stew) or cake ^_^ but my husband loves how easy the inside marks are to see. He. Can start this when he gets home, and we have rice and whatever foe dinner.

Update: November 29, 2012
Can cook 2 cups of rice without burning or otherwise ruining rice. The body is long, so can be awkward when kept under a low cupboard, as the steam rises, hangs a bit off my counter to avoid this, but not a deal breaker and I can move it to a table, etc if I want. Fairly lightweight and well constructed. I like that you can detach or move the paddle holder to either side or put it away if you don't use it. May go make some more rice right now!

I am impressed...!!!

It was free shipping and took only 3 days to get here. I was worried that this could be another rice cooker with the bad "Keep Warm" which mean is, it's going to burn the rice in 30 mines. I do trust the Japanese company, so I thought I will give it a try since this has 5 stars from 2 people already, and they were right!!! This rice maker was more then I expected!!! It makes such a cute melody when I set the timer (the time I want rice to be cooked). Then when rice is cooked, it makes different melody too. It is not noisy but loud enough for you to hear from 5 feet away. It can cook the white rice, brown rice, veggies (any foods with steam function), and the cake!!! WOW!!! It is light-weight with up to 10 cups of the rice making. I just tried mine to cook the brown rice, and boy... I was very impressed!!! The brown rice I knew was not soft enough with my old rice maker and I know that now, cus this Zojirushi rice cooker!!! My brown rice was so soft and tastier then before !!! I am so anxious to cook the white rice with it now!!! LOL. The sticker is easy to take it off from the rice cooker. It's also does the steam cooking too. Easy to see the disital clock and the other options. I love it and I think a lot more people will be happy with this rice cooker!!! I am not working for the Zojirushi. I'm just an at home mom with 2 boys and I just enjoy feeding them :) Trust me! This is it for under $170 for 10 cups!!!
