5Model pictured is the RC446 - the RC436 has a black front, older, not quite as stylish
By Jeri Zerr
I have been using Black & Decker Rice Cookers for MANY years, and not just for rice. These are versatile cookers for soups, stews, roasts, steaming, and multiple types of grains such as millet and quinoa. I cannot recommend getting one enough, they are super for making cost effective HEALTHY foods. This 16 cup size will make a main course for 1 to 3 people or a side dish for 4 to 6 people.

The model pictured above is the RC446 but it's labeled as the RC436. The older RC436 model has black controls and a round black knob on the lid. The RC446 was updated with white controls (as pictured), a different style white handle on the glass lid and is more stylish all around.. it simply looks better in today's modern kitchens. Otherwise they both are virtually the same; they both come with the exact same non-stick removable cooker, a white plastic steam basket, a white plastic rice scoop, a clear measuring cup, an owner's manual with basic instructions and a small whit e attachment to hold the scoop on the side (unnecessary... I always discard.)

I have used the same rice cooker for literally a thousand times or more without ever one failing nor having any type of issue, ever. My only concern is the non-stick surface eventually begins to degrade. I sure wish they made the cooker with a stainless steel 18/10 non-rusting interior, like today's stainless steel cookware. So for now, I try to always keep a brand new cooker on hand, then when my cooker is beginning to see better days due to wear and tear (usually only at least a couple years of VERY heavy use) then I will give away my heavily used but very functional B&D Rice Cooker to a friend or family member and break out the new one to once again look stylish in my kitchen. Even my brother who's not a determined cook has come to love the tasty dishes we've created in our Rick Cooker / steamer and has shown curiosity about making his own dishes in a rice cooker. So once again, I' m handing off our very heavily used cooker while breaking out a newer modeled stylish RC446.

I highly recommend and not only would I buy this cooker again, I *will* be buying one again.
